That feeling...

Image
Prescript The feeling of indispensability of one’s life totally exposes the frailty of human existence. The inevitability of death quashes the indispensability romance. It looks very human and normal to get to certain stage in life and have folks around us look up to us for one thing or the another, barring any irony or paradox, it is just the way life is designed-no man is an island they say. Our greatest undoing lies in the thinking of “we can’t be done without”-thinking that we don’t actually complete the puzzle because we are the puzzle ourselves-who are we to think that way? Dearest Sir/Madam,  it might take time and time’s all we need. It might not be rosy but the hope that it’s going to bloom someday keeps us on our toes. That it might be bitter (without you) actually hinges on the sensitivity of our taste buds. Why feel your absence when your presence makes no difference in the first place-The true feeling of your absence gives t...

Quick scribbles: Curious case of Senior Gimba

Image
Prescript Yeah that was delibrate, afterall if what you write at the base is called postscript then the one you write at the top should be called… It’s been a while .We were told that when life gives you a lemon then tryna make a lemonade out of it. Anyway I’m still thinking of the right flavor to make out of the lemon life inevitably presented. It’s good to be back and better (winks).   Junior Gimba was the name. To say Junior was a victim of crosshatcheted hypocritical parenting or his misfortune was simply down to his failure to reconstruct an already faulty upbringing, either way, you would be safely safe between the two extremes called right and wrong. Join in the voyage as we briefly sail through the waters of Junior (son) and Gimba snr (father). Bon voyage!!! Junior!!! The voice reverberated through the house jolting him back to reality as the scream of his dad’s ‘basscular’ voice drowned the sound of the television he was watchin...

LORD OF THE STORMS

Image
A beautiful evening it was The moon all out in its splendor Smiling on us with full vigor As we gallivant and talk away in the boat Enjoying the caress of the gentle breeze As we make our way to the other side Out of the sudden came the unexpected The calm tide of the see turns the opposite Calmness turned violent-unlimited Our boat was at its mercy Rocking and swinging side to side The melodious tune eluding us Beads of sweat turns to streams of fear Broad grin turns chagrin with pounding hearts The end is in view, we thought As we pass through death’s shadow Words of faith elude us As the “reality” of life dawn on us Carest thou not that we perish We unanimously bawled out Unto our master napping in the face of the storm Why sleepeth he at such a crucial time? Was he unaware or simply clueless? Of the fact that death was at the door knocking His reply made no sense Why talk of faith in the face of death? He was our last resort anyway As we ...

PROSPECT OR RETROSPECT:SCRIBBLES BY THE SUNLIGHT

Image
17/06/2014,  2:45PM Woke up yesterday with the normal feeling and excitement of a brand new day and the anticipation of its offerings. The major task of the day being a trip to Bowen University Iwo, Osun state Nigeria, West Africa (the adjectives are indeed needed) with just a singular and simple mission **to deliver an essential document to my sister**I knew it was going to be a long day but I never knew it was going to be longer than the “long” preconceived by my heart earlier. On getting to the town I got wind of the fact that the campaign train of one of the state’s gubernatorial candidate is stopping at the town, not bulging still, I flagged down a number of bikes but noticed they were all rejecting my advances until one reluctantly agreed (but with exorbitant charge) citing traffic congestion because of the campaign. The journey was smooth until we got to a junction where we met a group of thugs shouting to hell with the opposition party bla bla bla, it wasn’t actually the ...

LIGHTEY AVENUE

Image
Once there was war(based on territory) between light and darkness, the battle was so fierce that on the long run a truce had to be called.Twas agreed that both should live adjacent each other and  without interfering in each other’s business. The occupants of the warring parties are to live enclosed in their territory and no trespassing. Being on the light side, we did everything together; we lived in peace and helped one another. We had many things in common, we could see because there was light , but same cannot be said for those on darkey avenue, there was always commotion and terror, happenings there was exactly the opposite of ours. Out of curiosity one day, I went to our boundary and shouted out hoping someone would hear, why is there always commotion amidst you people? Can’t you just rest? Then a voice shouted back ,why won’t there be? He asked rhetorically, you people had light , we don’t have any, we dress , talk, eat and do things how we like, si...

........AND THERE WAS LIGHT

Image
Twas a typical day, with everyone going about their normal duty, folks chatting each other up, business transactions here and there and others minding their own business, all were basking in the euphoria of a brand new day. It was all normal and typical until suddenly went down the sun, change in weather and series of atmospheric metamorphosis till it became so dark, the darkness also started metamorphosing from faint darkness—thick darkness—gross darkness. The strange thing was that we‘re still in the morn, the stranger thing was that twas so dark while the strangest thing was how real and thick the darkness was!!!Nothing was visible (guess the eye can tell us more on why it suddenly relinquished its duties).Everything was audible, thanks to the sudden silence which was frantically trying to equate itself with the darkness’ intensity……that you can even a hear a feather drop. Heaven help those who help themselves, I think to myself as I stumble and ...
